HOW TO GROW YOUR CUSTOMER BASE WITHOUT CHASING EVERYBODY

Let me tell you something about business.
If you are always looking for new customers, sending messages everywhere, posting “BUY FROM ME” every day and still struggling to grow, maybe you need to look at your customer experience, not just your marketing.
Because many times, the easiest way to get 10 new customers is to take good care of the 3 customers you already have.
Let me gist you.
1. WORD OF MOUTH
Have you ever bought something because somebody you trust recommended it to you?
Exactly.
People talk.
If I buy from you and you treat me well, give me exactly what I paid for, respond when I need help and make the whole experience smooth, what do you think I will do?
I will tell somebody.
That is word of mouth marketing.
So don’t just think about making a sale.
Give your customer an experience they will want to talk about.
Your customer should be able to say:
“Go and buy from this person. They are really good.”
That one sentence can bring you another customer without spending money on advertising.

2. GIVE GIFTS
Sometimes, a small gift can do something your expensive advert cannot do.
It doesn’t have to be a big gift.
Imagine someone buys from you and you suddenly say:
“Thank you so much. I added this little gift for you.”
The person may be surprised.
They may even tell someone else.
It could be a discount, a free resource, a bonus product, free delivery or even a simple handwritten thank-you note.
The point is not the price of the gift.
The point is the feeling you create.
People remember businesses that make them feel valued.

3. USE SOCIAL MEDIA PROPERLY
Please, social media is not only for posting:
“We are available. Send a DM.”
Give people something of value online.
Teach them something.
Show them something.
Tell them stories that adds value.
Answer  Frequently asked questions.
Share customer experiences.
Show behind the scenes.
Let people see that there is a real person and a real business behind the page.
For example, if you sell shoes, don’t just post:
“New shoes available. #10,000. DM to order.”
Talk about how to choose the right shoes.
Show different ways to style them.
Explain how to maintain them.
Share what your customers are saying.
Now you’re not just selling shoes.
You’re building trust.
And people usually buy from businesses they trust.

4. GIVE PEOPLE EXCLUSIVE ACCESS
The truth is everybody likes to feel special.
You can tell your existing customers:
“Before we announce this publicly, we’re giving our existing customers first access.”
Now you’ve created something.
Maybe it’s:
Early access to a new product
A special discount
A private event
A VIP WhatsApp group
Exclusive training
First access to limited products
Your customer begins to feel:
“I’m not just another customer. I’m part of something.”
And that feeling can keep people connected to your business.

5. ASK YOUR CUSTOMERS TO REFER PEOPLE
Sometimes, your customers don’t know that you’re looking for more customers.
So ask.
After you’ve delivered good service, you can simply say:
“If you know anyone who needs this, I’d really appreciate a referral.”
You can even create a referral reward.
For example:
“Refer someone who buys from us and get £10 off your next order.”
Simple.
But remember, don’t build your referral strategy around rewards alone.
Give people a reason to recommend you first.

6. DON’T DISAPPEAR AFTER THEY PAY
This one is very very important.
If you notice, some businesses are extremely nice to customere before payment.
“Hello sir!”
“Good afternoon ma!”
“Thank you so much!”

Immeduately Payment enters,
Silence.
No follow up.

The relationship should not end because the payment has entered.
Check on them.

You can ask them things like
“How are you enjoying the product?”
“Did everything arrive safely?”
“Is there anything else we can help you with?”
That little follow-up can make a customer feel genuinely cared for.
And guess what?
When they need your product again, who do you think they are likely to remember?
You.

7. BUILD A COMMUNITY
Don’t just build a customer list.
Build a community.
Create a WhatsApp group.
Create an email list.
Organise events.
Share useful information.
Give your customers opportunities to connect with you.
Let them feel like they belong.
Because there is a different feeling between:
“I bought from this product from so so and so.”
To
“I’m part of a community.”
The second one is much stronger emotionally. And people buy emotionally but explain it rationally.
SO, HOW DO YOU REALLY GROW YOUR CUSTOMER BASE?
Don’t only chase new people.
Take care of the people already connected to you.
Give them something worth talking about.
Make them feel valued.
Stay in touch.
Give them exclusive access.
Reward referrals.
Use social media to build trust.
And most importantly
DELIVER.

DELIVER

DELIVER

Because when your product is good, your service is excellent and your customers feel valued, something beautiful starts happening:
Your customers start bringing customers.
And that’s one of the smartest ways to grow a business.
